Keyence Launch Automated 3D Laser Snapshot Sensor
The Keyence LJ-S8000 Series 3D Laser Snapshot Sensor is the world’s first to use an internal motor-driven scanning method. Its built-in laser light source and scanning mechanism eliminating the need for external lighting, lenses, a moving stage, or an encoder. This allows for comprehensive inspections, including dimensioning, appearance, and shape, with just the single sensor. It enables ultra-high-speed, ultra-high-accuracy inline 100% inspections for various targets and materials, with imaging speeds as fast as 0.2 seconds and repeatability of 0.3 µm.
The Keyence Imaging Navigation function simplifies adjustments by allowing users to select the best-quality image, removing the need for specialized skills and greatly reducing the time and effort required for setup and reconfiguration.
World’s First Profiler With Built-In Scanning Mechanism
The sensor head’s built-in scanning mechanism facilitates highly accurate and stable 3D inspections more easily than ever. The LJ-S Series’s unique design allows for part scanning by internally moving components, eliminating the need to move the part or sensor head. This simplifies installation and provides a large depth of field. The advanced optical system maintains clear focus throughout the measurement range, ensuring consistent accuracy regardless of target height.
The built-in laser light source and scanning mechanism eliminate the need for additional lighting, stages, encoders, or other auxiliary components, significantly reducing installation costs and setup time. Inspections can be performed by simply mounting the device and completing a three-step program setup.
Traditional systems require consideration of sensor accuracy along with potential issues with encoders, electronic stages, or robots needed to move the sensor. The LJ-S8000 Series’ built-in scanner delivers high-accuracy inspections without concerns about auxiliary equipment, as these components are not needed.
Key Sensor Features
High Intensity Blue Laser: The high light concentration and sharp image-forming beam of the high-intensity blue laser allow for an increased amount of received light, improving detection performance and measurement accuracy, while also ensuring greater ambient light resistance.
Brushless Direct-Drive Motor: This unique design ensures ultra-high durability and precision of the direct-drive motor.
High-resolution CMOS: Enhances image quality and measurement accuracy. The profiler is equipped with an ultra-high-sensitivity CMOS receiving element featuring Keyence’s single-shot HDR function providing the sensor with a dynamic range wide enough to reliably measure targets with multiple surface types (or areas of low reflectance and high reflectance) in a single shot.
Stray Light Control Function: With conventional systems, inspection of uneven shapes with glossy metal surfaces is often affected by stray light from the multiple reflective surfaces and scattered light. The new Stray Light Control function minimizes the effects of stray light allowing accurate shape images to be captured.
Robot Mounted Inspection
The LJ-S Series can be easily robot mounted enabling inspections at any angle or location with minimal target stoppage. The system’s high stability allows it to perform accurately without being affected by robot vibrations or linearity issues, and it integrates seamlessly with existing equipment without additional devices.
Direct Sensor Communication For PC Connection
3D data can be output directly from the sensor head without having to go through a controller, allowing users to construct their own image-processing programs. LJ-S Navigator, which includes the Imaging Navigation function, is also available to make configuring image creation settings easy allowing users to concentrate on image processing development without having to worry about image capturing.
Four model variants are available offering scanning ranges (X,Y,Z) of 16 mm x 25 mm x 8 mm to 78 mm x 160 mm x 46mm with Z axis repeatability of 0.3 µm to 1.0 µm.
