Planner X4 Streamlines 3D Metrology From Start to Finish
To optimize its metrology process, a manufacturing company needs to think globally, with a proactive approach based on planning, programming, measurement and analysis. The first step, planning, is essential for complete, error-free 3D measurement.
With Planner X4, a new tool in Metrologic Group’s software suite, users can prepare their work in advance of physical measurement, to save time and avoid any risk of error or interruption to the manufacturing chain.
Prepare 3D Inspection Process Upstream

Plan 3D inspection offline: Programmers can develop inspection plans directly in Planner X4. For even greater flexibility in the use of measuring equipment, users can plan comletely the 3D inspection offline. No measuring machine available? With Planner X4, users can plan the inspection process without having to connect to the measuring equipment. Prepare everything in advance to reduce processing time and the risk of errors.
Customize 3D Measurement Process: For a measurement that’s truly tailored to specific needs, users can decide which features and points to focus on during the session. Identify specific needs and the most important features to be measured, select the type of alignment to be applied, select reference elements and prepare labels in Planner X4. Then, when it’s time to start the measurement, all the instructions are completed: and measuring equipment operator just must launch the measurement software.
Calculate 3D Measurement Using Any Data: Calculate 3D measurement using basic 2D data, integrated PMI data or by importing different types of planning files. Want to add new PMI data? A simple click is all it takes! Working from a paper plan? Users can link PMI data to an identification number, so that it can be found quickly in the software.

Import Any Data or CAD File: To set up the 3D inspection process, users can use any type of data: IGS, CATParts and many others. This flexibility means users can import any type of file to run Planner X4. Likewise, the export of the inspection process can be performed without having to worry about format.
Access To 3D Measurement Overview: Directly access to an overview of the measurement process allows users to carefully check its steps and compliance. Create reports by choosing the structure and building them as desired. Simply drag & drop the desired images to complete the report. And, once the measurement has been completed, the report will fill itself out according to the framework and important points laid down at the planning stage.
Planner X4 is the first step in the complete measurement process developed by Metrologic Group, covering the entire 3D inspection process, including planning, preparation, programming, execution, reporting, and follow-up and supervision. The End-to-End process enables closed-circuit measurement, facilitating data transmission while reducing the risk of errors and downtime on the production line.
Presentation webinars on the Planner X4 are scheduled for November 29, December 4 and December 10.
